A Day In Kindergarten
Every full day in kindergarten your child will experience the following activities:

A count of how many days we have been in school
Counting daily numbers
Counting by fives
Counting by tens
Counting money correlating to the number of days we have been in school

Learning Centers
These are small group, weekly educational activities that often include: guided reading, listening, writing, math, science, and art. These centers are rotated daily so that each child experiences all of the centers for the week.
PE or Music
Mrs. Ryterski teaches Music.
Ms. Bivins teaches PE.
Recess
Shared Reading
A big book is read many times throughout the week to the whole group. The story is discussed, analyzed, and retold in a variety of ways. In the story we locate sight words and puctuation marks.
Literacy Stations
These are independent, literacy based activities that the children choose.
Math
Word Study
Introduction to letters and sounds, sight words, and word families.
Writing
Modeled writing, shared writing, and independent writing
Lunch
Theme & Art
Many fiction and non-fiction books are read and discussed to help educate students on a specific topic or theme (ocean life, Arctic and Antarctic life, desert life, insects, Mexico, bears, spiders, apples, turkeys, camping and wildlife, rainforests. . . ). Several related art projects are created by the children.
